How to move your services to City Network

transfer

There are many people out there who would like to move their services to City Network and have questions on how to do that. In this post we will give you some details and guidance on how to do that smoothly. For new customers we also offer 60 days money back guarantee, so if you are not happy with our services, you can always quit using them without having to pay any fees for breaking the contract.

Some steps you need to take before moving to us:

- Check your Agreement with current provider
- Order our shared-hosting package here
- Prepare your account
- Activate e-mail services
- Move your domain to us or point it to our servers
- Close your account with current provider

  1. Current Agreement

Before you decide to buy a shared-hosting package at City Network, check your current Agreement with your provider. We hope that you won’t have any problems with cancelling the current Agreement you have and won’t have to pay any penalties. Here at City Network we skipped contracts that have binding time so the customers who may not be happy with us, can easily leave us without having to pay any additional fees and penalties.
  2. Order shared-hosting package

Check our current offer at http://www.citynetworkhosting.com/. Your account will be activated once you get a welcome e-mail from us with login details to your “My City” control panel.
  3. Prepare your account

In the control panel you have a preview option, that gives you an opportunity to test your website in live environment before you will move or point domains to our servers. Through your FTP account you can upload your website and check how it looks like before you will move it. You just need to select if you are using Windows or Linux.
  4. Activate your email account

In ”My City” control panel you can activate e-mail support. Then you need to add e-mail addresses that you would like to use for current domains. Once you are done you can use those in your mail client or on webmail.

  5. Move or point domains to our servers

Once your website is set up and your e-mail accounts are working, you should activate some services. You can transfer domains to us or just point them to our servers. We suggest that you move your services to us, transfer depends on the domain type. You can find more information about it here: http://www.citynetworkhosting.com/domain-transfer/

If you decide to move point your domains to our servers you should change it at your current provider. Below are the details you should put in there:

    atdns01.citynetwork.se
    atdns02.citynetwork.se
    atdns03.citynetwork.se

You should avoid using third party DNS services. If it is down, then your site will also be unavailable. When you move to City Network you get additional level of security and have all services under one roof.

  6. Close your account at previous provider

If you have activated all the services at current provider, please check if you are not paying for the same services already at your previous provider. You need to make sure that all services and your account has been closed. Otherwise you can experience problems with traffic from and to your network at City Network.

Couple things you should know:

* Big advantage is that you have all services under one provider. This gives you complex support and control over your invoices, that now come from the same provider.

* Moving domain is based on the domain type. For transferring some of them you will be charged as those are renewed for a next year when you are transferring them. You can find information about it on our website.

Top 5 free Android Applications

Android market

Some time ago we have changed a Mobile Carrier at our office and moved to another one. This decision was a big one since we have been with the previous one for a long time, but this had to happen. Some of us working at City Network got new phones and I was one of them. Since I never had a smartphone it was quite new to me, and I decided to have a look at the applications, that can be found in the Android Market. I decided to test a few and select 5 that I think have a good use at work and when you travel.
